BOTANY & THE BEAST

Botany & The Beast is my 136-page, full-color love letter to TTRPG enthusiasts and sci-fi fans across the globe. It serves as both an introduction to the bizarre planet known as Makundo IV, a world I’ve meticulously sculpted over the course of 8 years, and as a universal RPG resource. Any gamemaster worth their dice should be able to take the abundance of information nestled within these pages and translate it into whatever system you might be playing. In this book, you’ll get a front-row seat to Makundo IV’s wild planetary dynamics, its exotic flora and fauna, a peek at its 8 unique races, and the rare metals and minerals that help shape its lore. Plus, dive into the foundations of Alchemancy, with more magic to be revealed in the eventual Alchemancer’s Cookbook.

This world has been painstakingly crafted so dozens upon dozens of elements tie together, forming an enchanting and original ecosystem. Pay extra close attention to it! Most players love building characters from scratch and breathing life into them as they play. For those who go that extra mile to craft strategies based on what’s available from the world around them, this book is going to be a gold mine!

If you’re seeking true escape from the problems of this world, grab a group of friends and jump into my world, a landscape brimming with adventure and discoveries! This is the beginning of everything I aim to build. It is the foundation. It is the first steps in our long journey. It is Book Numero Uno. It is… Botany & The Beast. Ladies and gentlemen, as we begin our descent into madness, please turn off your cell phones – they’ll be useless where you’re going. Put your tray tables in their upright positions, purchase your copy of Botany & The Beast, sit back, relax, and enjoy the trip!

NOTE: This is NOT the game. This is an introduction to the world the game will take place in.

FIELD NOTES ON THE AMAZONS

Venture into the Interior’s mountainous jungles, where the ghost-like AmaZons vanish into the dense foliage like phantoms. Despite having skin the color of fresh snow, these warriors have mastered blending into their surroundings with tricks drilled into them since early childhood. Clad in either dragonhide or pangolari scales, these adrenaline-driven females seek honorable combat and… an honorable death. The fate of their minds and their souls, however, hangs by a thread, tied to the mysterious blue mineral known as “Harmonium.” Without it, the ebon-twist virus prevails, twisting them into flesh-eating killing machines known as Zombi.

A world of secrets unfold in this 36-page, full-color chronicle, as I reveal the details of their unique culture and government, their weapons, jungle secrets, and a map of their territory. Dare to tread across their hunting grounds, but know this: they will see you long before you see them.

With every page dripping with the weight of their mystique, you’ll understand why AmaZons stand in a category all by themselves. For those who crave the thrill of the unknown, this book is your key to the AmaZons’ shadow-veiled legacy. Immerse yourself in their world with tools to inspire your adventure in ways never explored before!

Step into the Zimbuhari Grasslands, where the deadly Fast Spots reign as the alpha predators. Driven by the primal thrill of La Grande Chasse, these fierce cheetah-human hybrids, born from the ashes of the Great Ebon Invasion, live for the chase… and the kill. In this 36-page, full-color Survival Guide, I’ve chronicled their savage yet strategic culture, from the high-stakes trials of their youth to the legendary ranks they can earn through sweat and blood. Peer into their world and learn about their tribal devotion, their telltale tail beads, and, most importantly, how they perceive the world around them.

Unleash your inner hunter with this immersive guide! Learn all about the Wind-Shredders, Boomslingers, Thorn-Bearers, the Razor Bleu, and the Bloodmaster General – each a specialized class of Fast Spot. Delve deeper by exploring the unique biological diversity within the Fast Spot community via various “furmutations,” such as the odds of being albinistic, melanistic, long-haired, sans spots, or even having the infamous “King’s Coat” coloring.

Whether you’re a storyteller weaving epic tales or a roleplayer seeking inspiration, these details can only fuel your imagination as you build your characters. HIDEY-HO, ADVENTURERS!

Welcome to the Grand Opening of a legacy in the making! This is the ground floor, the foundation, and where the action begins! After 8 long years, I’ve fine-tuned my planet, Makundo IV, into a vicious and unforgiving realm, perfect for the creative storyteller or gamemaster and a place to be conquered by adventurers seeking a true gamer-high without equal. Forget cookie-cutter elves, dwarves, orcs, or dragons who have simply been regurgitated into a new setting; this African-inspired landscape delivers originality with a host of new races that should scratch your gaming itch and then some!

Because of some of the themes within this world, characters and locations will feel both familiar yet definitively alien. But the further we go down the rabbit hole, the more alien it becomes. I’ve got races and cultures planned that have never ever been even hinted at before. But… I need to ease you into the water first. These books are only the tip of the iceberg for what I’ve got planned. Now… will I live long enough to reveal everything stored up in the attic? That’s the question! The clock is ticking! Let’s see what happens!

It might seem like I’m dreaming big, but when this takes off, I’ll gladly bring in other artists to speed things along. I’d also love to have 3D miniatures of my characters created in order to complement the game, offering you a deeper, richer gaming experience. Eventually, I’d love to branch out into comic books, television shows, movies, and even action figures! But, as I said, this is the ground floor. As Lao Tzu once said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Take this journey with me. Come play in the massive and diverse playground I’ve built. Welcome to Makundo IV!

My first ten scheduled books cover the planet: all the flora, fauna, planetary dynamics, unique and rare materials, and the 8 playable races, their lore, their history, what makes them unique. They’re the backstory you’re going to need when my Core Rulebook is finally released. Three of those books are completely finished and for sale right now, by the way! Several more are over halfway done, fitting my self-imposed “every 2-3 months” release schedule (preferably every 2). Prices are reasonable – I’m not here to break the bank. Grab the ones that grab you and skip the rest!

With the exception of some contributed artwork from my lovely, talented wife, the vast majority of my books are all me. I’m the writer. I’m the artist. I’m the game designer. I’m the one to blame for whatever is or isn’t in my books. If you know me,… you’ll know. You will quickly learn I am not politically correct. At all. My TTRPG mimics the style and flair of TTRPGs back in the 80's and early 90's. You remember that? Back when TTRPGs were cool, because they were focused on good stories and good artwork. That’s me. That’s how I roll, and that’s how it’s going to be. Some people will hate me. Others will love me. I’m OK either way. My focus is on the books, the stories, the art; not about bending over backwards (and failing) at making everyone “feel good.” It can’t be done.

See what I mean? I told you I wasn’t politically correct.

So, if you feel like supporting this massive undertaking and me, please buy my books, share my links with friends, and encourage them to do the same. Let’s resurrect the golden age of TTRPGs together. Become a member of my Patreon, join us on Discord, connect with me on YouTube (like, share, and subscribe, and all that jazz) and seek me out on Facebook, as well. I should have a LINK page with all that info; check it out!
